SMD COMPONENT COUNTER · SMD REEL COUNTER · MADE IN CHINA
SAMTRONIK builds motorised electron-optical SMD component counters in Shenzhen, China, together with the tape-and-reel consumables that feed them. Both models count the same way: the reel is driven past an electron-optical sensor that reads the punched pockets on the carrier tape, instead of weighing the reel or trusting the label. Count forward and backward, re-check on a second pass and stop at a preset quantity, across tape widths from 8 mm to 88 mm and a counting range of -59,999 to +59,999 pcs. The bench-top unit measures 410 × 235 × 240 mm, weighs 9 kg, runs on 220 V 50 Hz or 110 V 60 Hz and ships with a one-year warranty. We also manufacture embossed carrier tape to EIA and EIAJ standards, antistatic cover tape and plastic reels, so pocket pitch, peel force and reel size match the counter you buy.
Both machines detect the pockets on the tape as the reel turns, so the count is the same whether you buy the entry model or the one with inspection options. What changes is what happens to the number afterwards — is it printed on a label, or read off the screen and written down. Buyers arrive calling the same machine an SMD chip counter or an SMD reel and tape counter; both are answered by the two models below.
COU2000ADVThe motorised bench-top SMD reel counter. Tape runs past the sensor, the count goes forward or backward, and a double-check pass confirms the figure before you act on it. A preset quantity is held in built-in memory, so the machine stops at the number the job needs. Drafting LCD screen, patented reflector, and a tape path designed so the reel cannot drop mid-count.
COU2000EXThe same counting engine with the Pocket Check option, a barcode scanner and a label printer. A reel is counted, checked for missing components in the pockets and labelled in one pass — which is what turns an SMD component counting machine into an incoming-inspection station rather than a counting bench. Also specified as an SMD reel and tape counter or an SMD digital parts counter.
An SMD counter is bought to remove guesswork. These are the four points on a line where an estimated quantity turns into a real cost.
Counting a reel on arrival confirms the quantity against the label. A short reel or a mislabelled part is caught at the warehouse gate instead of at the mounter, where the whole line stops to find out why the feeder ran empty.
Leftover reels come back to the store with an unknown quantity on them. Re-counting before they are shelved means the next job is kitted from a known number rather than from what the label used to say.
When a work order needs a fixed number of parts, the counter stops at the preset figure. You issue what the job needs instead of a whole reel, and the balance stays counted and traceable for the next build.
Every count produces a number that can be written against the reel ID. That is the record an MSD time-out check, a customer audit or an internal traceability review asks you to produce.
An electronic component counter sits in the middle of a tape-and-reel process. We also make the consumables either side of it, so pocket pitch, peel force and reel size line up instead of being bought from three different suppliers.
Carrier tape embossed on our own machines to EIA, EIAJ and European standards, in the widths the counter handles: 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 44, 56, 72 and 88 mm.
Antistatic cover tape matched to the pocket depth and seal width, so peel force stays inside the range your feeder expects after the reel has been counted and re-sealed.
Plastic reels in the 7, 13 and 15 series and other types, so the reel loaded into the counter is the same one that goes onto the feeder afterwards.
Send these and we will confirm the model, the option set and the lead time within 24 hours — most counting enquiries are answered the same working day.
The figures below are what the machine is built and tested to before packing, not a catalogue range.
The two standard models cover most reels. When your tape, your paperwork or your brand is not standard, we build the machine and the tooling around it instead of selling you a catalogue unit and an adapter.
A counter is only worth buying if the number on the screen is right. These are the three stages every order passes through before your carton is closed.
Built and calibrated in house
Counters, tape guides and control boards are assembled and calibrated in our own Shenzhen workshop, so a custom tape guide is made on the factory floor rather than bought in and adapted.
Count verified before packing
Every unit runs with a loaded reel and the count is checked against a known quantity, forward and backward, before it leaves the line. The test record is kept on file against your order number.
Packed for export
Carton packing with export documentation matched to the invoice, shipped by DHL, UPS, EMS or FedEx so the counter reaches your warehouse without transit damage.
Most of our counting business comes from repeat orders — the machine arrives set up for the tape widths you actually run, and the support continues after delivery.
